The C &L Philosophy, Cost Control, & Our Clients
The hallmark of Coritsidis & Lambros, is, creativity– borne of its attorneys passion for the law, and the advocacy of its clients’ interests. Though it may be suggested that creativity and passion are not required for routine matters, C &L
believes that creativity leads to solutions in seemingly unresolvable matters, and, invites serendipitous results, in routine matters. The creative legal mind explores connections between seemingly disparate facts, objects, legal precepts, ideas, sensibilities, results or goals, so as to craft a resolution that can speak, simultaneously, to seemingly inconsistent goals and interests. So, for example, if a sum of money divides parties, C &L’s
attorneys explore the connection between time and money, or profits and taxes, the savings of third party costs, or even, emotional capital, so that a settlement can transfer doses or savings of each, to the end that the money differences are equalized, in non-cash units of value.
C &L’s
attorneys begin by avoiding a strict linear or categorical review of their accumulated knowledge or experience. They brainstorm by deconstructing, isolating and referencing relevant facts and issues; examining the motivations of their counterpart and anticipating their strategies; researching the relevant law; anticipating the judicial view of the evidence, in both practical and legal terms; and then, projecting their conclusions to a bigger canvas. The goal is not only to find the path to a winning verdict, but also one which motivates the other side to a settlement, acceptable to the Firm’s client, or even, one which also brings residual benefits. This is not, simply, thinking out of the box –because, that would presume that thinking begins inside of a box. Rather, it is a recognition, from the outset, that every case, transaction, litigation, contract, problem, or crisis, though unique, has in whole or part, its precedent and in turn, a resolution which, with an informed effort, can be revealed.
Cost Control
At C &L
we consider cost control to be a professional responsibility. If we do not safeguard our client’s resources, we are as derelict as if we do not vigorously defend their rights in court. Because of this commitment, our cost control policies, include the
following:
- First, our experience in banking, real estate and commercial matters, as well as our first hand knowledge of the organization and structure of Banks, enables us to respond quickly to questions which would require others to research, at your expense.
- Second, we are committed to avoiding unnecessary discovery, motions and other costly litigation strategies.
- Third, at this writing our hourly billings never exceed $450.00 per hour.
- Fourth, by tailoring a document retrieval system on our in-house computer for customary matters, we avoid the added costs and inefficiencies of repetitive manual handling of documents.
- Fifth, we are not hesitant to write off time spent on telephone calls with our client’s for perfunctory questions or exploratory advice. We do not want our clients to hesitate to call because they feel a need to balance the need for an answer with its cost.
- Finally, we encourage clients to discuss alternative fee arrangements.
These policies produce significant savings. We observe these cost-saving measures always adhering to the high standards of quality representation in every case or matter, large or small. Most importantly, we are constantly looking to tailor our billing cost basis for our services to our client’s specific needs, and manner of doing business.
